Albany County Legislature Awards over $225,000 to 16 Municipalities to Improve Parks, Playgrounds
…The Albany County Legislature awarded over $225,000 to 16 municipalities to enhance, develop, and upgrade city, town, and village-owned parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities throughout the County.
Part of the Albany County Improvement Initiative, the Legislature partnered with the Albany County Parks & Recreation Department and the Albany County Executive’s Office to distribute the funding throughout the County.
City of Albany – Elizabeth Street Park
City of Albany/Upper Madison Group – Upper Madison Parks
City of Cohoes – Van Schaick Island Park
City of Cohoes – Veteran Memorial Park
City of Watervliet – Brotherhood Park, Clinton Park, 7th Street Park
Town of Berne – Town Park
Town of Bethlehem – Historic Heath Farm
Town of Coeymans – Riverfront Park at Coeymans Landing
Town of Guilderland – Tawasentha Park
Town of Westerlo – Town Hall Playground
Town of Westerlo – Veterans Memorial Park
Village of Altamont - Bozenkill Park
Village of Colonie – Cook Park
Village of Menands – Ganser Smith Park
Village of Ravena – Mosher Park
Village of Voorheesville – Scotch Pine Park
Albany County Legislature Chairwoman Joanne Cunningham said: “Each of these projects, each of these parks, are a promise and a partnership. A promise to residents that they will have access to enjoy our beautiful county not only to support their physical health, but mental as well. Plus, we are proud to partner with each of the cities, towns, and villages and provide the support they need to deliver on that promise.”
Albany County Legislature Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham said: “I see the joy and fun that parks create every day. I see how green spaces connect people from all walks of life. These projects make our small part of the world here in Albany County a better place for everyone.”
Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy said: “Investing in parks and recreation means investing in health and wellness, and it means investing in quality of life. By awarding $225,000 to support 16 projects across our county, we are strengthening the places where families gather, children play, and neighbors come together. These projects will ensure that our parks remain vibrant, accessible, and welcoming for generations to come. I would once again like to thank Chairwoman Cunningham, Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham, and Majority Leader Dennis Feeney for their partnership on this program.”
