Glenmont - The Main Farm Site

As you drive by, it can be hard to take it all in, but 2026 will be a year of growth and a fair bit of change.

BeECO is exploring lease arrangements in a pilot project. Up to 3 acres are available to lease to new and next generation farmers. You can read more about this pilot here.

There will be a cover crop demonstration at the future community garden site and a smaller cover crop demonstration applicable to residential settings will be placed near the barn. These will be featured in the 2026 NY Soil Health Field Days. We couldn’t be more excited to host.

This spring will also see the installation of a bat and pollinator garden, two bee colonies and native plant trail complete with a trailhead kiosk. We thank our friends at Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy for the construction assistance and support.

To round out this exciting year, two fields (40 acres) have been placed in a haying license for the 2026 growing season. These are beautiful hay fields and will feed our neighbor’s cows. A third field (13.5 acres) has been entered into a 3-year lease with Sunray Community Farm, a small-scale regenerative farm and nursery project in the Capital Region. The fourth land portion is the proposed large scale (40 acre) cover cropping effort that has been submitted for a Sustainable Agriculture and Research (SARE) grant.

In case you were wondering

by contract, all lessees shall comply with all laws of the Town of Bethlehem, including but not limited to the Town prohibition against the use of pesticides on Town property as specified in Town Code § 87-4.

Selkirk Land

And that’s not all!

An 11.5 acre field on Wylie Lane Selkirk has been leased to Jon and April Audietis, Farmer Jon’s Farm Market. This 5-year lease will allow our farm neighbors to expand their operations.

An additional 107.5 acres on Clapper Road and 21 acres on Weisheit Road have been leased to Michael Stanton of Stanton Farms for the next 3 years.

Bethlehem believes farms help to create a diverse landscape and contribute to our local character, and economy.
